Work Pass

All foreigners who intend to work in Singapore must have a valid pass (commonly known as a work visa) before they start work. Employers who are engaging foreigners to work in Singapore must ensure that they hold a valid pass. More information on some common passes issued can be found below:

Employment Pass

For foreign professionals, managers and executives. Candidates need to earn at least $4,500 a month and have acceptable qualifications.

Dependent Pass

For spouses and children of eligible Employment Pass or S Pass holders.

Long Term Visit Pass

For parents, common-law spouses, step-children or handicapped children of eligible Employment Pass or S Pass holders.

S Pass

For mid-level skilled staff. Candidates need to earn at least $2,500 a month and meet the assessment criteria.

Personalised Employment Pass (PEP)

For high-earning existing Employment Pass holders or overseas foreign professionals. The PEP offers greater flexibility than an Employment Pass.

EntrePass

For eligible foreign entrepreneurs who are keen to start and operate a business in Singapore that is venture-backed or possesses innovative technologies.

Tech.Pass

Tech.Pass is a visa that allows established tech entrepreneurs, leaders or technical experts from around the world to come to Singapore to perform frontier and disruptive innovations. Individuals can apply for the pass directly. The pass is administered by the Singapore Economic Development Board.

Letter of Consent (LOC)

The LOC holder is pre-approved to work in Singapore or operate a business. There are several types of LOCs. Please refer to MOM’s website for more details.

Global Investor Programme (GIP)

The Global Investor Programme (GIP) accords Singapore Permanent Resident status (PR) to eligible global investors who intend to drive their businesses and investment growth from Singapore. You will need to have a substantial business track record and successful entrepreneurial background to qualify.

Permanent Resident

As a foreigner, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residence if you are a/an:

  • Spouse of a Singapore citizen (SC) or Singapore permanent resident (PR)
  • Unmarried child aged below 21 born within the context of a legal marriage to, or have been legally adopted by, a SC or PR
  • Aged parent of a SC
  • Holder of an Employment Pass or S Pass
  • Student studying in Singapore
  • Foreign investor in Singapore.

Note: Factors such as the individual’s family ties to Singaporeans, economic contributions, qualifications, age, family profile and length of residency, to assess the applicant’s ability to contribute to Singapore and integrate into our society, as well as his or her commitment to sinking roots.

Singapore Citizenship

You are eligible to apply for Singapore Citizenship if you:

  • Have been a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) for at least two years and are aged 21 and above (you can apply together with your spouse and any unmarried children aged below 21 born to you within the context of a legal marriage or legally adopted by you).
  • Have been a PR for at least two years and have been married to a Singapore citizen for at least two years.
  • Are an unmarried child aged below 21 born within the context of a legal marriage to, or have been legally adopted by, an SC.
  • Are a PR studying in Singapore; and have been residing in Singapore for more than 3 years (of which, at least one year as a PR); and have passed at least one national exam (i.e. PSLE, GCE ‘N’/‘O’/‘A’ levels), or are in the Integrated Programme (IP).
  • Are a PR and an Aged Parent of a Singapore Citizen.
